What's new in the world of fast food?.......

Better for you than other takeaway foods!!
Yes, it's official!  Fish & chips contain only one eighth of the trans-fat found in a donner kebab and just over a third of the trans-fat found in an American burger and fries!  These were the findings on the recently shown Sir Trevor McDonald programme.  The reporter, Fiona Foster, seemed almost disappointed to have to report that fish & chips were "surprisingly low" in trans-fats.

The actual food value of fish & chips is a remarkably well kept secret.  Fish & chip shops present their customers with real food.  The potatoes are real potatoes and all that the shop owner does is peel and chip the potato.  The fish used in fish and chip shops is fresh-frozen real fish from the product-sustainable waters of the north Atlantic and the Barents Sea.  No processing here, just highly nutritious, healthy white fish!  the fish is battered using a batter flour that contains no artificial ingredients and no added salt.

Providing that the fish & chips are fried correctly, and most fish friers are experts in this culinary art, the hot oil will seal the goodness and flavour in and the oil absorption is therefore kept to a minimum.  Weight for weight, fish & chips contain less than two thirds of the fat found in potato crisps!

So the messgae seems clear - fish & chips is a safer food than either kebabs or American burger  and fries.  Not only safer, but delicious and still the nation's favourite takeaway food with over 250 million portions served last year from the 11,500 fish & chip shops in the UK.

The average portion of fish & chips contain under 900 calories, significantly less than other takeaway foods.  So eat fish & chips as part of a healthy balanced diet.........get some tonight!
